MetaMask

MetaMask is an application that can run either in your web browser as an extension, as an Android application, and as an iPhone application. After installation, it allows you to store Ethereum and other ERC-20 tokens, enabling them to send and receive crypto to other crypto addresses.

Now, you can use this to spend their coins in games, stake tokens in applications and trade them on decentralized exchanges. It can be an entry point into the emerging world of decentralized finance, or DeFi, providing a way to access DeFi apps.

To get started with MetaMask

  1. Go to the MetaMask website https://metamask.io/index.html and click Download.

  2. You will need either Chrome, a Chromium-based browser such as Brave, or Firefox. Or you can use your mobile phone.

  1. Since I am on my browser, I will click on Install MetaMask for Chrome, click Add to Chrome button. Click Add Extension then Get Started.

  1. You can either Import Wallet if this is not your first time or you can Create a Wallet. For this demo, I'll click the Create a Wallet button. Click on I Agree.

  1. Next create a strong password for your MetaMask then click Create. It will show you a video tutorial on how to keep your wallet safe. Then click Next.

  1. Now, click on Reveal Secret Words. Make sure you’re the only one who knows these words and keep them safe then click Next.

  1. Confirm your secret backup phrase by clicking on the text button based on the sequence of your phrase from step 6. Then click Confirm.

  1. A congratulation page will show after confirming the right phrase on step 7. Click All Done.

  1. Now, it will redirect you to the MetaMask dashboard area. It will show a popup with all the necessary information including the secret recovery phrase and its information.

  1. The popup will also show the QR code incase you wanted to swap from browser to mobile. Simply scan the QR code.

  1. So this is actually the dashboard page without the popup view. So in here ETH is already added, you can buy or send or swap that ETH. Currently my ETH is 0. If you want to, simply click buy and set up a payment method.

  1. You can add different tokens to your wallet just by clicking Add Token in the dashboard area.

  1. I tried looking for chainlink and voila it’s there. I tried adding this token by clicking Add Token.

  1. So currently it's zero cos i have not added or bought it yet. If you bought it you can send that token or swap it.

  1. If you click send it will ask for a recipient and or scan a QR code of that recipient.
